Welcome! Revd Tom Brazier says 'Our two churches in Greenside Parish exist to share the powerful love of God in Jesus Christ with all 9,000 or so people who live in the parish. I would hope that whoever you are, you could see our church as somewhere to find care, support and help when in need. I want you to know that you are most welcome to join us. We love to meet families seeking christenings, we love to make a church wedding possible for couples who feel this is important, and we want to be there for you through our funeral work when you lose a loved one. We are a warm and loving church family' About Greenside Parish: Our Parish is made up of two churches - St John's Church in Greenside and Church of the Holy Spirit in Crawcrook. We worship as one congregation, alternating between the two venues. We are a friendly, lively Anglican church. Greenside Parish belongs in Gateshead West Deanery, in Durham Diocese and is located 9 miles west of Gateshead, in the north east of England. St John's Church is a more traditional building and Church of the Holy Spirit more contemporary. The distance between the two church venues is only a mile. We also have a large venue at St John's Community Hall, opposite St John's Church, which is well used by both church and community. As a church, we aim to be faithful to the Good News of the Holy Scriptures. We believe in the authority of the Bible as the true revelation of God. We believe that the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today and seek God's wisdom in using them for the glory of His name. We also try to think of ourselves as a group of people travelling with Jesus. We are an open group - there is always space for someone else. We are a diverse and inclusive group - even when that is inconvenient. We'd love you to be part of our group as well - and we know we might have to change to make that possible. We only have one non-negotiable - that Jesus is the centre of the group. We endeavour to follow him no matter what. That is not always easy but it's worth it! As a church, we have adopted a rule of life to enable us to live out this vision. Our rule of life says: We are all on a journey. We are following in the Way behind our founder Jesus Christ. For a time our paths run together. During this time, we choose to travel together. We choose to be safe companions, we choose to love, we choose to reach outwards to others, we choose to reach inwards towards Jesus, we choose to share: we share each other's joys and burdens we share each other's gifts and needs we share each other's food and company we share each other's stories When our paths part, we will part well, knowing that one day we will all live together with Jesus for ever.
